David Griffin's Ted Talk on How Photography Connects Us discussed the idea that photographs have a powerful impact on the photographer and the audience viewing the image. Photos tell a story and connect us to people, places and things that unfamiliar and different to what we know. A photographer can do more than just capture an image. They can express feeling and tell a story. In the talk, Griffin tells anecdotes of different photo expeditions his colleagues went on in which they do more than travel to a place for a picture. They experience a new culture or community in which they learn their way of life and difficulties they endure. I really enjoyed watching David Griffin's Ted Talk. I have always enjoyed National Geographic's images and now I know the background of a few of their iconic images. I also enjoyed how he showed good, interesting images throughout. Inheritance
This image represents the different types of things I've inherited. There is the physical items, such as the camera and jewelry. The globe represents the different nationalities I am and how the different cultures have all influenced my life. The globe, along with the metal, pictures and flag, represent the stories I've been told and the lessons I've learned from my grandparents, great grandparents, and the rest of my ancestors.
