Inheritance

Image
This image represents the different types of things I've inherited. There is the physical items, such as the camera and jewelry. The globe represents the different nationalities I am and how the different cultures have all influenced my life. The globe, along with the metal, pictures and flag, represent the stories I've been told and the lessons I've learned from my grandparents, great grandparents, and the rest of my ancestors.

Reflective identity

Image
1/500 f/4.5 ISO 3200 This photograph shows the literal reflection of myself. I've kind of got a look of being unsure, showing that what we see in the mirror is not always what either we want to see or what we think of ourselves. I really like the lighting in the photograph. It has pretty nice rim light. I also like how you can see the back of my head so it actually looks like I am looking in a mirror. If I had done this assignment again, I would have cleaned my mirror, moved the camera so you couldn't see it at all, and asked someone else to take it so I could have gotten the exact angle I wanted. I also should have put on a cute top instead of just wearing a sweatshirt.

I was trying to go for a starry night, but the moon's didn't really turn out great. It would have been better if I had a black background as well

Shapes SOOC edited Architectural SOOC edited Shadows SOOC edited Environmental SOOC edited What camera metering mode (evaluative/matrix, center-weighted or spot) did I use for each image and why?      I used evaluative mode for each image. I tried to use the other modes for the first two pictures I took but realized it was just easier to use evaluative. For the shadow framing, I could have used spot metering so that Alex's face wasn't so dark before it was edited. What white balance settings did I use for each image?       For the shapes, environment, and shadow framing, I used the shade white balance. For the architectural, I used daylight mode.  Do I have a strong composition? Give specific support as to why/why not.      For the shapes framing, I think I have really good composition. I have leading lines and a center focus. For the architectural framing, I have ok composition. I could have do...

Portrait with reflector

SOOC SOOC histogram ] Edited Edited histogram Review Questions: What challenges did you encounter photographing and editing this image?  Since I didn't go on the field trip, I wanted to go somewhere cool. It was kinda hard to find spots where using the reflector would look good. How did you overcome these challenges? I found shady areas and had my friend stand in a spot that was in the shade but close to where the sunny areas were. What side of the reflector did you use and why? How did it affect your image? I used the silver side to create more light on her face. It did make some pictures over exposed (I just had to change my settings to fix it). I probably could have used the white side and taken good images as well.  Do you like your image in black and white or color more? Why?  I like it in color. Even though there isn't a lot of different colors in the image, I'd prefer to see them. Also some parts of the image look weird in black and ...
